Has anyone considered (or done) compilation of code for the Mac in a language on a UNIX host? C, Coneuc, Modula .... ? What problems might be anticipated in doing this (assuming one had a proper binary downline loader)? Since Apple now seems to say that compilation for Macintosh on Macintosh will not be possible until the half-meg Macs arrive, and I don't want to have to buy a Lisa (the point of the Mac is price!), the best alternative seems to be to use one of the nice languages available on UNIX. I'm pretty sure that one can get the binary files into a Mac file, but have no idea how to make them runnable, or how to link to the toolbox routines. Presumably some of this information is in "Inside Macintosh", but is there enough information there? I don't want to shell out US$150 if it won't provide the information. -- Martin Taylor {allegra,linus,ihnp4,uw-beaver,floyd,ubc-vision}!utzoo!dciem!mmt
