[net.micro] CPM junker systems for 25

I ordered 3 of these and they just arrived. To give a little more info
for those who might be interested. The board is missing a Z80 CPU, DMA, 2 CTC,
4 SIO, 1793-02, 1691, 2143, 2532, and 8 64k dynamic rams. I found one ram left,
a Hitachi HM4864-3, the board mask is marked as a MB4864E. 3 of the SIO are for
RS422 and the last is for RS232. The installation and user's guide is not much
use to those trying to salvage the boards, it deals almost entirely with the
CPM installation, but it does list the port addresses of the SIO's, DMA, PIO,
(soldered in), dip switch, board leds, one CTC, where is the other one?, but not
the FDC. It does give pinouts for the serial ports and the Centronics connector
but nothing on the disk connectors. The manual claims it is set up for 5 1/4"
double sided double density floppies and 5 1/4" 9.5 Mbyte, 5 Mbaud winchester.
So, it looks like for $150 in LSI (byte prices), plus $25 for the board,
plus an unknown amount of work to build a boot and configure a CBIOS, you can
have a CPM system, with 64k, 2 RS232, 1 Centronics, minus drive, minus CPM. The
possibility of more is there, but the price goes up then.
The boards are not chopped up, but it looks like they have been tossed into
a pile once or twice, (bent connector pins, dinged sockets, loose electrolitics,
etc.) There are 6 bobo wires, a couple of board cuts, and it looks like they
may have gone through rework already.
Will anyone coming up with a boot rom, that can be distributed, pass me a
copy of the listing? Ditto on information on just what kinds of hard disks will
interface to the thing. Ill try to return the favors.
