[net.micro] NSC16000 development tools

deborah@avsdS.UUCP (04/04/84)

I am looking for information on C cross-compilers which will
generate object code for the National 16000 series of microprocessors.
My site has a UNIX source license, if that helps. The compilers
we currently use (Whitesmiths, Vandata, MIT) reside on a PDP-11/70 running
UNIX.

I am also interested in emulator support for the 16000.
I have already been in contact with National, and know what they have
available. If you have any pointers to other companies either marketing
or planning to market development tools for the 16000, please
mail the information to the address below.

Many thanks in advance,

C cross-compilers are available from:

	GreenHills Software
	55 N. St. John Ave.
	Pasadena, CA 91103

	(213) 796-6543

Conrad Schneiker is the fellow you want to talk to.

The compilers, which come in 16k and 68k flavors, cost $6k on a
single CPU license basis (multi-cpu / multi-compiler discounts available).
Each compiler has target options. There is a service charge for each
additional target beyond the first (sort of like making a pizza):

	Target Availability
	------ ------------
16k (weird assembly format)	Off the shelf
16k (GENIX assembly format)	2 months
68k (Motorola Assembly) Off the shelf
68k (Unix Assembly) Off the shelf
68k (Mac Format) 2 months?
68k (Lisa Format) Very Soon Now

Hope this is useful.

May not be exactly what you'd like, but a company called

		Solutionware Corporation
		1283 Mountain View-Alviso Road, Suite B
		Sunnyvale, CA 94089
		(408) 745-7818

does have cross-development tools for the 16000 running on CP/M. Their
products include a cross assembler (500), "utilities" (500), Pascal (500),
debugger (750), and a prom containing a loader and a debug monitor (250).

I get their newsletters periodically, since I'm also looking sometime to
migrate to a 16/32-000 based system. Hope this helps.
