unix-pc gurus, I have been trying to hook up an external modem to break the 1200 baud barrier of the internal modem for my UUCP connection. I can get it to work fine with kermit, but when I try % uucico -r1 -x9 -sSYSTEMNAME I can't get past the first expect-send sequence. I could give more details about my particular system, hdb, 3.51 OS, etc but I think this is probably something someone has seen before and not specific to how I have my Devices and Systems set up. Besides, I think I've tried every possible combination with these files. I've read some recent articles, etc. but none of them have talked specifically about this "lost line" error. Below is part of the error log from uucico. . . . chdir(/usr/spool/uucp/SYSTEMNAME) conn(SYSTEMNAME) Device Type ACU wanted mlock tty000 succeeded opening with O_NDELAY set clear O_NDELAY fixline(6, 9600) processdev: calling setdevcfg(uucico, ACU) gdial(hayes) called expect: ("") got it sendthem (????????) expect: (OK) lost line errno - 0 # HERE IS THE CULPRIT !! set interface UNIX mlock tty000 succeeded opening with O_NDELAY set clear O_NDELAY fixline(6, 9600) processdev: calling setdevcfg(uucico, ACU) gdial(hayes) called expect: ("") got it sendthem (????????) expect: (OK) lost line errno - 0 # TRIES AGAIN....FAILS !! set interface UNIX getto ret -1 Call Failed: CALLER SCRIPT FAILED exit code 101 Conversation Complete: Status FAILED TM_cnt: 0 Any help will be greatly appreciated. I was really surprised this wasn't in the FAQ list. Maybe it isn't as common as i suspect. email and I'll summarize... -- Rex Fowler rmfowler%texrex@cirr.com cs.utexas.edu!egsner!texrex!rmfowler
