I received fewer than ten responses to my query about interest in a LOGO newsgroup. Netnews ettiquite would indicate that this is probably not enough people (or enough traffic) to justify its own group. The time doesn't seem to be right, yet. I suggest the following: a) continue to discuss LOGO in net.lang. This way we'll see if there's enough interest to really warrant a separate group. AND b) correspond by mail on specifics. For this purpose, here is my list of responses, condensed: ===== BEGIN included mail ===== >From harpo!duke!unc!mcnc!jcw Wed Dec 29 21:13:59 1982 Subject: Re: eisx.477: Interest in a net.lang.logo group? Count me in for net.lang.logo, and if there's not enough interest to warrant a newsgroup, maybe we can keep a list of names. I was a beta test site for Krell Logo last spring, when I was at the North Carolina Educational Computing Service. I still use Logo occasionally, but not as much as I used to. I really liked it though. I'm not sure how much I would contribute to this newsgroup, but I'd sure like to I'd sure like to encourage formation of a logo group. I vote yes. Your newsgroup request seems more oriented towards makers than users, but if users get on and share their opinions, I'd like to see the group formed. I've been interested in Logo since reading Papert's book "Mindstorms", about 18 months ago. Now that I've bought an IBM PC, I'm looking for an implementation for that machine. If I do find one, a newsgroup on which I can discuss the use of Logo would be helpful. If I can't find an implementation on the market or in the public domain, I'll have to buld one myself, which means a newsgroup on which I can discuss implmentation with people who've done it would be invaluable.
