Are there accepted guidelines for naming plasmids? I have created two variations of pBR322 that will hopefully play a major part in my future research. I'd like to give them designations that I can use in publications, but since I'm not really in the molecular engineering field I won't be applying to the Plasmid Registry for a block of indentifiers -- I'll probably only be creating these two new constructs. Are there guidelines for creating new names? If possible, I'd like to use something that indicates their relationship to pBR322.
