[bionet.molbio.seqnet] Freezer Inventory Control with Paradox Database

From: Timothy Springer <TSPRINGER@BIONET-20.ARPA>

I am attempting to use a relational database, Paradox, for cataloging and in-
ventory of our frozen cells (Any inventory control system for storage in a
fixed grid, with items located in for example boxes with 64 places (8x8) and
ability to track total number of duplicate items, usually stored next to one
another, would be helpful). I would like to develop tables and forms for ad-
ding and removing cells from the collection, keeping track of how many are on
hand, who they have been sent to, and where space is vacant in the freezer.
One of my problems is how to symbolize the location of cells in the filing
system. There may be many of you out there who have developed similar in-
ventory control systems, and would appreciate hearing from you. Most ap-
preciated would be file and query structures written for paradox.

 Sincerely yours,
 Tim Springer
