I have always liked the shape of tall tanks while at the same time realizing the problems with surface area. Last year I added a 70-gal tall to my collection of standard rectangular tanks. Two Powerhead 400's with their aeration feature seems to provide more than enough circulation, but I know I should always be careful about how many fish I put in just in case of pump, switch, or power failures. I got the tank mainly to show off fish with the shape of angels and discus. Also I am hoping that the water pressure of the deep tank will help grow some species of young fish to their proper size so that they can survive the large adult fish in my 180! It seems some fish grow to their right size no matter the size of the tank, while others need frequent water changes, special food, or higher pressures.
