I assume it's unsafe to use dead wood gathered (a) from a park, (b) from a river, or (c) from the sea, inside an aquarium. Does anyone know if (and how) one can cure wood to make it safe? Or is it ok if it's been dead for a while? Are there particular kinds of wood to look for (or look out for)? I have a freshwater aquarium if it's relevant. The only method I can think of is boiling the wood and sitting it in a mildly acid bath for a while. Will this work? How long is "a while"? Thanks in advance. -- Ashwin.
