[alt.aquaria] water changing tip

I used to *hate* changing the water in my 29 gallon tank. Hence, it
turned into a once a month, 50% water change. This required "aging"
the water in 5 gallon buckets, adjusting the ph, and heating the water
to the same temperature as the water in the aquarium. Yuch!

Now I change the water twice a week (3-5 gallons each time) using zip-loc
bags. The fresh water is simply drawn directly from the tap into a 1
gallon size zip-loc bag (at or near the aquarium water temperature),
sealed, and "floated" in the tank for an hour or so until the water
temperature in the bag is the same as what's in the aquarium. After that
time, the bags are slowly dumped into the aquarium. No fuss, no bother, no
stress to the aquarium inhabitants.
