[alt.aquaria] RO means...

qnp@SAGE.CC.PURDUE.EDU (vinod kutty) (01/18/90)

RO stands for Reverse Osmosis. An RO unit is used to get soft water out
of hard tap warer. It is expensive but a lot of people use it. Richard S.
would you care to elaborate on the subject sometime.

This shows a seroius problem faced by many hobbyists, not just Richard L.,
There is a shit load of jargons, acronyms, synonyms and abbreviations and
generally a lot of scary words. Luckily this phenomena occurs more only in the reef portion of the hobby. I wonder how many
beginners are uncomfortable with the situation that they dont post or
bother asking anybody. Worse, I wonder how many beginners quit the hobby
because of this. FAMA stands accused of this crime more than TFH or AFM.

OOPS sorry...look who is talking! FAMA stands for Freshwater and Marine
Aquarium magazine, TFH stands for Tropoical Fish Hobbyist Magazine and
AFM stands for Aquarium Fish Magazine. I apologize. The more experienced
aquarists really have to try a little harder and make it easier on the
less experienced ones - verbally.
