[alt.hypertext] Instruction manuals

UH2@PSUVM.BITNET (Lee Sailer) (06/16/88)

I would be delighted to hear from anyone who has used ANY hypermedium
to implement any type of instructional manual.

A colleague and I am planning to do a study of the effectiveness of
such Hyper Instructions, as compared to plain old boring paper versions.

Thanks. Lee

At HyperView systems, we have been developing hypermedia based reference and
training systems for the last year or so. We have integrated tools that
support hypertext, animation, large diagram display, and video sequences.
I can't really go into the types of products that we are currently
developing (except to say that they are "information" products rather than
hypermedia tools). However, we do provide services to commercial organizations
and the DoD to develop custom hypermedia systems based on the Macintosh family
and/or IBM compatibles.

We have used hypermedia approaches to develop training and reference solutions
for such topics as programming languages, hardware maintenance, and
manufacturing plant emergency response.

I'd rather not give a commercial (and provide people a legitimate reason to
flame at me). If you are interested in talking more about our experiences
and lessons learned, send me some E-mail describing your areas of interest
and I'll get back to you.

Jack
