Looking through the reference manual for WordForWindows I see that there are some nice hypertext-ish features (bookmarks and gotobuttons). In practically no time I have converted part of the text of a scientific dictionary into a "hypertext network" (and automatically, thanks to the power of generic markup and Word's macro language). Now I didn't expect this at all (coming from a sheltered Mac environment Windows 3 applications are generally blowing my mind!) but perhaps someone `out there' can tell me how Word For Windows is likely to fare if I try this sort of thing in earnest. What are the performance considerations for storing LARGE numbers of bookmarks? How quickly can Word `goto' an arbitrary bookmark? (I have been using Guide-3 but it has a 64K limit on the size of text objects, which is a little inhibiting.) Thanks in advance for any revelations. -- L.Carr@ecs.soton.ac.uk Les Carr Tel: +44 703 593649 Dept of Electronics and Computer Science Fax: +44 703 593045 University of Southampton Telex: 47661 SOTONU G Southampton SO9 5NH England
