I am currently investigating the feasibility of using a hypertext tool to implement an expert system design. I am not looking to use hypertext as merely a front-end, rather, I hope to be able to build the E.S. in a tool like HyperCard, Toolbook, or Guide. In doing some background research on this topic I haven't yet been able to turn up much information in this area. It seems that most people have been focusing on the use of hypertext tools as front-ends to inference engines in designing their expert systems. What I'd like to do is get rid of the external inference engine altogether and build the inferencing capabilities using hypertext. Is there anyone out there in netland who has any experience in this area, or knows of any literature which might be of some assistance? Please responsd by posting or sending e-mail.
