Here's a recipe that sounds somewhat similar to yours, from
_The Community Kitchen's Complete Guide to Gourmet Coffee,_
by John DeMers (used without permission).

English Honey Loaf

2 1/4 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup shortening
2 eggs
1/3 cup honey
1 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon rind
1/2 cup strong cooled coffee
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and thoroughly grease a
9 x 5 x 3-inch pan.

Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda
and spices.

In another bowl, add the sugar gradually to the shortening,
creaming well. Add the honey and lemon rind and mix the batter
until blended. Add some of the coffee and dry ingredients to
the mixture, alternating between the two and blending well
after each addition. Add the walnuts and turn the batter into
the pan. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes or until a cake tester
or toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Serves 8.
