[adapted from Mabry Mill's recipe flyer] Corn Meal Griddle Cakes 1 cup corn meal 1 cup natural flour 1 teaspoon salt 4 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 cup vegetable shortening 1 egg, well beaten 2 1/2 cups milk Mix dry ingredients, combine egg and milk and stir in. Add shortening, and if necessary, add additional milk to make thin batter. Bake both sides on ungreased hot griddle. Makes about 18 griddle cakes.
