From: Joe Ruvolo <Ruvolo@cwru20> Bravo, Mr. Smith. I have been watching the nets just become flooded with replies, comments, approvals, disaprovals and the like. It is about time that we came up NOT with better ideas for protection, but with a new idea! Why don't we all back our thought patterns up a step or two by realizing that software protection schemes just don't work! If someone out there is good enough to write a clever scheme, then there is ALSO someone out there that is clever enough to break that scheme. Why not (???) support something along the lines of what Russ suggested instead of letting our inflated programming egos get in the way (e.g. I can write a protection scheme that NOBODY can break! (and if somebody does, well, I'll write a better one!) It's time we stopped talking about the fact (???) of whether it is wrong or right to pirate software. It is against the law and that is that! Let's talk on the thought of making software so that the pirates won't want to just copy it! . . . just trying to get a word in edge-wise! jpr%cwru20@cucs20.arpa -------
