I have a persimmon tree in my backyard, and have never been able to figure out what to do with them, except give them away. This year I saved a few to make something out of. Can you send me some good recipes that use persimmons? Blake P. Wood - bwood@janus.Berkeley.EDU

I've discovered a couple of wild "native american" persimmon trees. THey are full of small, golf-ball sized orange persimmons, which I think are the original wild american version of the fruit. A few years ago there was an article in Natural History magazine extolling the virtues of persimmons, and giving several recipes, but I don't know where to find this article or issue anymore. Please post or email any information that you might have on preparation, baking, cooking, etc. In particular, how does one "efficiently" remove the top of the persimmon and get the seeds out?
