I was visiting my mother the other day, and she told me about a recipe her mother used to make that she (my mother) used to rave over, but never learned to make. Apparantly Grandma would take a whole chicken, make soup with it, and then roast the chicken that was used to make soup. The chicken was then served in what my mother describes as a "wonderful brown gravy". Granted, this is sketchy. But perhaps someone out well versed in Russian Jewish cooking can supply a recipe. --mike edelman medelma@cms.cc.wayne.edu
