[net.micro] A: Squeaky floppy drive

David.Anderson@CMU-CS-G.ARPA (05/06/84)

I had a problem like that for the longest time, and I finally cured it
by applying a greaseless lubricant to the disk drive rails (long metal
rods along which the head carrier slides). I sprayed it on something
else so as not to spread the junk all over the drive, and then used my
finger to put some on the rails. I had to do it twice to completely
eradicate the squeaks, but the drive has been good as new ever since.
