[net.micro] Info on Smith-Corona TP-1 and L-1000 printers?

I've just seen some good prices on Smith-Corona letter-quality printers; the
TP-1 for $300 (Cdn) and the L-1000 for $600 (Cdn). The TP-1 is a bare bones
unit, that comes with a serial or parallel (not both) interface and prints in
10 or 12 pitch (not both). The L-1000 has both interfaces and prints in 10,
12 or 15 pitch and has a few other niceties.

But this is about all I know of them; I'd be very grateful for other info.
on these printers, particularly:
     - your experience with their reliability
     - how well they work with Microsoft Word (they are not directly supported
by Ver. 1.00 (aside: does anyone have a later ver. of Word?))
     - the availability and price of printwheels

I'll post a summary of replies. Thanks,
