Certainly no one is proposing that disk storage will be eliminated entirely from the picture. With proper integration, the laser disk could be very useful, and would free space on normal disks. You mentioned that fixing bugs would be impossible - not so, just keep the corrected copy in disk storage. Problems only occur when you start modifying a majority of the files on the laser-disk, and run out of magnetic medium. Most sites certainly don't modify that large a pecentage of their software (please, no responses telling me how your site has changed almost every program).
