This is one of the most delicious apple cakes I have ever had and I am
not one for Apple deserts. This recipe was given to me by my friend Rich.

CRUST:
1/3 cup Sugar
1/3 cup Butter
1/4 tsp Vanilla
1/8 tsp Salt
1 cup Sifted Flour

Cream together sugar, butter, vanilla and salt.

Add flour and blend together.  User your fingers to spread it over the
bottom and partially up the sides of a spring-form pan.  Set aside.


FILLING:

4-5 Apples   (I like green apples)

Peel and core apples.  Cut into slices, place in shallow pan, and cover
with foil.  Bake in 400 degree oven for 15-20 minutes.  Let cool.

1 8-oz package Cream Cheese
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp Vanilla
1/8 tsp Salt

Cream together the cream cheese, sugar, vanilla and salt.

1 Egg
1/2 tsp Lemon Peel

Add egg and lemon peel to cream chees mixture, beat until smooth.

Pour mixture into crust, spreading out toward the edges.  Arrange apple
slices in layers on top.

1/3 cup Sugar
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1/4 -1/2 cup sliced almonds

Mix Sugar, cinnamon and almonds together and sprinkle over the apple
slices.

Bake at 400 degrees for 40 - 45 minutes, or until the crust and apples
are cooked.
