[soc.culture.japan] winter wonderland

antwerp@meepmeep.pcs.com (Kim A. Manton) (12/01/90)

winter has finally arrived here in muenchen. it is about ten to three
in the afternoon....i am sitting at my desk, waiting for the printout
that never arrives, so i gaze out the large picture window above my desk
to relax my eyes. big puffs of snow are whirling and filling the air,
collecting on the windowpanes, on the tips of pidgeon wings, frosting
the flowers and trees in the courtyard. it is very quiet. i take a
sip of tea. the air is bright, inside and out. a diskdrive ferbles
somewhere in the corner of the room. the machine fans om mane pad-
me hummmmmmmm, dusting my ears with whitenoise. i finish my tea.

fewer and fewer snow flurries, now -
just a handful of pillow-fight feathers puffing up here and there.
the pidgeons tuck themselves in on the corner of the ledge, and
hide their bills in their wings. somewhere in the building, my
printout never arrives.

"Will the circle be unbroken? By and by, Lord, by and by?"
