I have an XT to which I just added the 8087 math coprocessor. I have been trying to run IBM's diagnostics to determine if the 8087 is working correctly or not. The diagnostics start up and report that an 8087 is present but I believe that, that is just the result of looking at the dip switch settings and not the result of looking at the processor itself. Step 49 of the diagnostics is where it is suppose to check the 8087. The manual says if the message "Math Coprocessor being tested" (or something like that) stays on the screen for more than 10 seconds have the system serviced. Well, on mine that message does not show up at all. Has anyone experienced this? Is there any sure fire way to know that the 8087 is working correctly?
