[net.news.group] net.books revisited

          RE: net.books

          I appreciate all the positive (no negative) responses for a
          'net.books' newsgroup. About 20 people responded to my original
          suggestion, perhaps more, since I do not know about those who
          responded to Dann. One suggestion that I had at first thought
          sounded good was to name the group 'net.lit', for literature;
          however, one cirtic/respondent felt that net.lit may connote
          established works of literature only, and not current or newly
          released material. I respect that view, and add that this group
          may include other than literary discussions, as, for instance,
          illustrators' artistic style or messages from wordless books
          (pictures only).  Several respondents preferred 'books' to 'book';
          no one preferred 'book' to 'books'.

          I will ask our administrator to set up a 'net.books' newsgroup as
          soon as possible. Then, when my annual head/throat/chest infection
          has cleared up, I will attempt to support this brave new attempt to
          bring 'culture' to the newswaves.
