THE AMDAHL AUSTRALIAN INTELLIGENT TOOLS PROGRAM ---------------------------------------------- at La Trobe University Department of Computer Science Bundoora, Victoria, Australia Is offering a number of Research Scholarships for Graduate Students. The project is aimed at producing a set of software tools using "intelligent" systems which will improve the productivity of the front-end of the software design process, and to experiment with new approach in modular programming and system design. The Research Scholarships will be A$10,000 p.a. for appointees eligible for direct entry into an MSc or PhD program. Successful candidates may also apply for a La Trobe University Scholarship in July, and arrangements may be made which would yield a total scholarship value of around $15,000. Support would also be provided for Honours or MSc Prelim candidates. The project has an adequate budget for overseas visitors and for travel. The Program is funded by Amdahl Australia under the Victorian Offset Program, is being supported by La Trobe University, and involves Prometheus, one of Australia's software major companies as an industrial partner. The Program is aimed at raising the productivity of the software industry, will run for at least four years, and have a total of eight staff and research students by mid 1989. This is a unique opportunity to become involved in a major research program with clear industrial links and results.
