KRISTOFFERSON@BIONET-20.ARPA (12/21/87)
From: David Kristofferson <Kristofferson@BIONET-20.ARPA> A new bulletin board has been created on BIONET for the Protein Identification Resource (PIR). The PIR produces the PIR protein sequence database which is available on BIONET. Copies of messages on this bulletin board will be forwarded to the PIR staff at the address PIRMAIL@GUNBRF.BITNET. The PIR intends to use this bulletin board to interact with BIONET users in several ways as indicated in the introductory message posted on the bboard. The bulletin board is named PIR and BIONET users can participate in it, i.e., see any new messages at login by issuing the command DO PIR at the @ prompt. The introductory message can be read in the MM mail program by first entering BBOARD PIR after the MM> prompt and then READ 1. This bboard will be automatically forwarded to non-BIONET sites that are receiving ALL Bionet bulletins at a single address. Sites that receive bboards at separate addresses must establish a new address for this bboard and notify me as soon as the address is established. A new USENET news group for this bboard will be established soon. Sincerely, Dave Kristofferson BIONET Resource Manager ARPANET Address: kristofferson@bionet-20.arpa -------
