The National Library of Medicine has contracted with
the American Type Culture Collection for the development
of a Directory of Biotechnology Information/Resources
(DBIR). The project has reached a prototype stage and
includes resources such as:
  *COMPUTERIZED DATABASES, DATABASE VENDORS, ELECTRONIC
BULLETIN BOARDS, NETWORKS and other computerized
   resources
*BIOTECHNOLOGY CENTERS formed to stimulate biotechnology
   growth in academia and industry
  *CULTURE COLLECTIONS
  *CURRENT AWARENESS SERVICES
*PUBLICATIONS such as periodicals, directories, and
selected monographs, reviews, and compilations of
information resources which focus on biotechnology

Currently there is a special emphasis on seeking
contributions from special committees, and ad hoc and
sanctioned groups in the area of BIOTECHNOLOGY
NOMENCLATURE. The Directory encompasses a broad spectrum
of biotechnology, including its application in medicine,
agriculture, pharmaceuticals, food technology, as well as
molecular biology.

To make a contribution to the Directory, please contact
the address below, including any informative literature
available about the resource such as brochures, articles,
informative packets, and descriptive data sheets.
