[bionet.general] New Swiss-Prot bboard

kristoff@NET.BIO.NET (Dave Kristofferson) (08/25/88)

A new international BIOSCI bulletin board for the SWISS-PROT protein
sequence database has been formed. It will be headed by Amos Bairoch
of the University of Geneva who is the founder of SWISS-PROT. Dr.
Bairoch has posted an introductory message to the bboard.

BIONET users can see at login all new messages posted to this bboard
by issuing the command DO SWISS-PROT after the @ prompt. The bboard
can also be accessed by giving the command BB SWISS-PROT at the MM>
prompt in the MM mail program. BIONET users can post messages to the
bboard by mailing to the address SWISS-PROT.

Scientists on other computers can access SWISS-PROT via the most
convenient BIOSCI bboard network node. The access routes follow:

swissprt@semax51.earn (EARN)
swiss-prot@bmc1.bmc.uu.se	(Internet in Europe)
swissprt@uk.ac.daresbury	(JANET in UK)
swiss-prot@bionet-20.bio.net	(Internet and BITNET in the Americas)

Messages posted at any node are automatically relayed to the others.
On USENET this newsgroup is available as bionet.molbio.swiss-prot.
