The editorial staff of the Journal of Bacteriology has agreed to make available to BIONET the Table of Contents of each issue of the journal *in advance* of hardcopy publication. We will distribute this information via the international BIOSCI bulletin board network. The first posting has been sent to the RESEARCH-NEWS bulletin board (USENET: bionet.molbio.news BITNET: RESEARCH) though this may change in the future as the BIOSCI staff discusses distribution mechanisms. We hope that this new service will be of use to the community. We also extend an invitation to the editors of other journals to participate in similar ventures with the BIOSCI newsgroup network.
