[bionet.general] Culture collection database

hanusj@bionette.ucs.orst.edu (Joe Hanus - Botany) (12/30/88)

We are presently organizing a database to serve small research-oriented culture
collections. These collections are distinguished from the large service
collections whose primary role is to maintain and supply cultures to other
researchers. The collections are of germplasm relating to plant or
horticultural research and include:
Bacteria
Fastidious procaryotes
Fungi
Nematodes
Protozoa
Algae
Subcellular elements
  Plasmids
  Cloning Vectors
  Cloned genes, libraries
  Plant viruses
  Myco-viruses
  Phage
  Cloned MCA's
  Antisera
  Viroids
  Satellite nucleic acids
  Other nucleic acids
The database will be distributive in that only a minimum data set for each
organism in each collection will reside in the central database. More
detailed information will be accessed only through the individual researcher.
