[bionet.general] Other Newsgroup Changes: New POPULATION-BIOLOGY group, 4 others go

kristoff@NET.BIO.NET (Dave Kristofferson) (04/12/89)

The POPULATION-BIOLOGY newsgroup (POP-BIO on BITNET/EARN and
bionet.molbio.population-bio on USENET), recently established by a
vote of the community, is ready for postings. The moderator, Vincent
Bauchau, will post his introductory message soon. I would like to
encourage all of those interested in this group to introduce their
laboratories and related research interests to start things off. This
will give the group a better picture of the audience to which postings
are sent.

Users on the BIONET DEC 2065 computer may subscribe to
POPULATION-BIOLOGY by entering DO POPULATION-BIOLOGY after the @
prompt. Please send other subscription requests to the appropriate
BIOSCI address, and NOT to the newsgroup:

Subscription Addresses Location	Network
---------------------- --------	-------
biosci@irlearn.ucd.ie Ireland EARN/BITNET
biosci@uk.ac.daresbury U.K. JANET
biosci@bmc.uu.se Sweden Internet
biosci@net.bio.net U.S.A. Internet/BITNET

On a less bright note, the following four newsgroups have been
discontinued due to lack of use. Users on the BIONET DEC 2065
computer will still have access to old messages. Posting addresses
have been abolished.
