I am shocked to learn that Bionet will shutdown on September 30th. Over the last four years I have extensively used Bionet for my research and for communicating (sequences, data, manuscripts etc.) with collaborators in Europe and North America. The shutdown will cause substantial problems for my rather small laboratory. I am posting this message to urge all felow members of the great unwashed mass of molecular biologists to protest this decision. I have already sent my response to Dan Davisson (dd@beta.lanl.gov), and now I requesting you all to do the same. Thank you. Akhil Vaidya -------
