[bionet.general] Weekly listing of new EMBL and GenBank entries

FUCHS@embl.bitnet ("Rainer Fuchs ", EMBL) (12/11/89)

In response to numerous requests, the EMBL now provides a weekly listing of
new entries available from the EMBL File Server. This index is created every
 Sunday night.

Whereas the daily indices include all entries since the last quarterly
release, this new index contains only information on the entries that were
processed during the last week. This will make it easier to keep track of
 new entries.

The weekly index can be retrieved from the EMBL File Server by sending a
mail message to NETSERV@EMBL.BITNET containing the subject line or body
 line:

 GET NUC:NEWENTRIES.NDX

This file has fixed format. The first line describes the time range it
covers. The second line points to last week's index file. After a blank line
there follows the listing of the new entries, one per line. The first column
(6 chars) contains the primary accession number, the second one (9 chars)
the entryname. The rest of the line is filled by a short description of the
entry as found in the ID line of a EMBL flat-file entry (truncated to 60
chars). Colums are divided by two blanks.
