[net.micro] net.digital and HCT logic

I was wondering how many people actually use CMOS that used to use TTL.
True, the power dissipation is lower but the price is higher and you
have to worry about fan out. I don't find that a good tradeoff in my
applications, do others?

Sure, Phil, you do have to worry about fanout if you're using CMOS to
drive bipolar devices, but HCT is just a temporary phenomenon.
Eventually, the only devices left in the world will be PAL's, HC-MSI,
CMOS LSI and bipolar transmission line drivers. Myself, I'm convinced
that CMOS is the way to go; I'm just waiting for the rest of the world
to be convinced so that the prices would drop.
