[bionet.general] GenBank RDBMS now available on GOS!!

kristoff@GENBANK.BIO.NET (Dave Kristofferson) (09/28/90)

The new relational form of the GenBank data bank is now available on
the GenBank On-line Service (GOS). The new GenBank On-line Service
Manual (completely revised) will begin shipping later today to all
current and new GOS subscribers. This manual includes instructions on
how to utilize the GenBank RDBMS. The data base is accessible through
either the Sybase ISQL interface for SQL queries or through the
forms-oriented "Annotator's Workbench" software developed at
GenBank/Los Alamos. The current methods of access to GenBank flat
files such as IRX also remain available on GOS.

One must have an account on the GOS computer to gain access to the
RDBMS. For account information and an application packet, please send
your regular mailing address to gos@genbank.bio.net.

My thanks to all of those at LANL and IntelliGenetics whose efforts
have helped us attain this major milestone.

				Sincerely,

				Dave Kristofferson
				GenBank Manager
