[bionet.general] New newsgroups are almost ready

kristoff@GENBANK.BIO.NET (Dave Kristofferson) (04/04/91)

Just to let some of our more enthusiastic users know (so I don't have
to answer this question repeatedly 8-), I expect that the four new
newsgroups will be in place at all BIOSCI sites by this Thursday, but
please watch BIONEWS/bionet.general for an official announcement. The
names of the new groups are as follows:

Internet:	GENETIC-LINKAGE
BITNET/EARN:	GEN-LINK
USENET: bionet.molbio.gene-linkage
Description:	discussions about genetic linkage analysis

Internet:	ARABIDOPSIS
BITNET/EARN:	ARAB-GEN
USENET: bionet.genome.arabidopsis
Description:	information about the Arabidopsis genome project

Internet:	COMPUTATIONAL-BIOLOGY
BITNET/EARN:	COMP-BIO
USENET: bionet.biology.computational
Description:	computer and mathematical applications in biology

Internet:	NEUROSCIENCE
BITNET/EARN:	NEUR-SCI
USENET: bionet.neuroscience
Description:	research issues in the neurosciences

Note that the COMP-BIO newsgroup will be moderated. More details on
these groups will be posted later, but please hold off on the use of
the groups until the official announcement is posted here. Observant
BIOSCI readers may have noticed that the usual BIOSCI info sheet
posting on the 1st of month was postponed due to this slight delay.
