[bionet.general] PIR Release 28, including VMS files, now on UH Gene-Server FTP

dbd@THEORY.BCHS.UH.EDU (Dan Davison) (06/06/91)

The new release of the PIR Protein Sequence Database, PIR Rel. 28, is
now available for anonymous FTP from menudo.uh.edu, 129.7.1.6 in
/var/ftp/pub/genbank-server/pir as two groups of files, ASCII and VMS
format.

The VMS format is provided for those who wish to use GCG without
reformatting the ASCII files.

They are stored as compressed files, so be sure to use binary mode
to transfer. An executable of 'decompress' is available in the same
directory as decompress.exe and the command-line file as 'decompress.cld'.
Be sure to use binary mode to pick up these VMS files!
