From: JAY HIRSH <HIRSH@BIONET-20.ARPA> An updated version of Bob Schleif's public domain MacIntosh DNA software program MacDNA is now in the directory <pc-software.mac>. This is a small (65K), self-contained application that is fast and efficient at many straightforward DNA analysis tasks such as translations, charXGter stripping, restriction mapping, consensus searching, inverting, formatting, etc. Be aware that the program is not Mac-like, i.e., no mouse or dialog boxes, but the current version will run under Multifinder. No direct printing facility is provided, but text files are easily created that can be printed from any wordprocessing program. The current version has enhanced formatting and editing, and does single letter translations, not included in the original version. The program is stored as a Binhexed file, MacDNA.Hqx. The Stuffed file contains the application as well as the file "NEB" containing an up to date listing of the NE Biolabs catalog of restriction enzymes in a format readable by MacDNA, and a file containing further instructions on the use of the program. The applications Binhex and Unstuffit are required for downloading. Both are available under <pc-software.mac>. General instructions on downloading are in the file <pc-software.mac>Readme. I find this program very useful, & hope it's of use to others. Jay Hirsh -------
