Here's a quick and not too dirty plasmid drawing trick you might like. First, enter the distances between the regions you want to mark into Cricket Graph and create a pie chart. Then paste the pie into MacDraw and cover its center with a white circle. MacDraw's 'Align Objects' can precisely center the white circle. This gives you a ring with your regions indicated by different fill patterns. To emphasize only certain regions (AmpR etc), just remove the wedges of pie that you don't want to be thick. Each wedge is a separate object, so select and delete those bits. You're almost done, but the thin line joining the thick parts runs along the inner edge of the thick segments. For a nicer look, make invisible the outline of the central white circle. Then draw a concentric circle with a diameter that splits the emphasized regions nicely through the middle.
