[bionet.software.contrib] New GELFRAGSIZER, ALN3, ALP3, SEQAID, PCFOLD versions.

SYEH@BIONET-20.BIO.NET (Spencer Yeh) (03/28/89)

Dear Biologists,

New versions of the following contributed software programs are now
available from the BIONET Lending Library:

GELFRAGSIZER version 1.4

A Macintosh Hypercard stack to calculate gel fragment sizes from
  their mobilities.

SEQAID version 3.5

Latest version of Don Roufa's multifunctional MS-DOS sequence
analysis package adds a Needleman-Wunsch gapped alignment
module and a context sensitive help facility. The site-search
module now permits use of multiple search templates in a
single search to emulate double or triple digests. The sequence
editor now permits internal subsequence extractions.

ALN3 and ALP3. BIONET version 1.0

The BIONET versions of Osamu Gotoh's triple alignment programs
have been modified to search for sequences in the current
connected directory instead of a fixed directory on a diskette
drive. This earlier convention caused much confusion among
users. Source code is now available.

PCFOLD version 4.0

Michael Zuker's RNA structure prediction program has been improved
by incorporating the energy model of Turner, et. al. (1987). A
new separate program is provided to produce different energy files
for different temperature levels. The maximum sequence limit is
  still 425 bp.

All four of these programs are now available free of charge by
anonymous FTP from the net.bio.net computer, or, for BIONET
subscribers only, by postal mail. (Send a self-addressed, stamped
return envelope along with a FORMATTED diskette to: BIONET
Administrator; BIONET/ IntelliGenetics; 700 East El Camino Real;
Mountain View, CA 94040). Help topics for all of these programs are
available on the BIONET DEC2065 computer.

Sincerely,
