               POST-DOC POSTION IN OTTAWA, CANADA
                  DNA/protein sequence analysis

I am looking for a Research Associate (what everyone else calls
a post-doctoral fellow) for the Biomolecular Modelling Group in the
Division of Biological Sciences at the National Research Council of
Canada. We are the theoretical component of a protein laboratory
which includes molecular genetics, genetic engineering of proteins,
and structural analysis of proteins (sequencing, spectroscopy, CD,
X-ray crystallography). The emphasis now is on protein structure
prediction and the design of modified or novel proteins. Possible
areas of research include the automatic alignment of more than two
DNA or peptide sequences, RNA secondary structure prediction using
minimum energy criteria and phylogeny, and improved methods for
predicting protein secondary structure, especially when several
homologous sequences are available. I will consider anyone working in
molecular sequence analysis.

I would prefer someone with at least some formal training in
mathematics and who is reasonably self-sufficient in computing. We
have an IBM mainframe running VM/CMS and a VAX 11/750 running VMS.
Please contact me for further details and for information on how to
obtain an official application form. The position is available
immediately.
