We are seeking an individual having experience with VAX computers and the
DEC VMS operating systems to act as a professional consultant to the faculty,
students and staff of the Department of Biology. This individual will be
responsible for management of two departmental MicroVAX computers,
programming, establishing accounts, maintaining DNA/RNA/Protein sequence
analysis software and databases, consulting on software and hardware problems
with microcomputers in the department, providing training and expertise in the
use of sequence analysis, wordprocessing, graphics, statistical and other
software systems used in the department. In addition to having experience with
the VMS operating system and microcomputer hardware and operating systems, the
ideal candidate will also have some background in Biology, preferably in an
area which uses quantitative methods for the analyses of data. We will
actively encourage this individual to become involved in research relating to
the use of computers in biology. This will be a full-time position at a
professional rank within Indiana University and will carry a salary of
$25,000/year and associated fringe benefits. Individuals requiring a higher
