Research Scientist Position at the PIR A Research Scientist position is immediately opened at the Protein Identification Resource (PIR). The PIR is a publically funded resource for the identification and analysis of protein sequence data. It maintains the formost protein sequence data collection in the world and has cooperating nodes in Europe and Japan. The major goal of the PIR is to provide the biomedical research community with an environment for the detailed examination of the protein related information. This environment consists of an integrated software-data system that was developed by research workers at the PIR. The position will involve research into the continued development of this system. This includes research into methods for sequence analysis and biologically realistic schemes for data representation and retrieval. Successful applicants should have a Ph.D. in biology and/or computer science and demonstrable skill in both fields.
