HCLAIBORNE@BIONET-20.BIO.NET (H. Alexander Claibo) (10/01/88)
A faculty-level Research Associate/Instructor position is available to study
the molecular biology of streptococcal genes involved in oxidative metabolism
and in defense against oxidative stress. Graduate or postdoctoral experience
with construction and screening of lambda expression libraries, DNA sequencing
and oligonucleotide-directed mutagenesis, or heterologous expression of strepto-
coccal gene products is preferred. The laboratory is fully equipped for these
recombinant DNA studies; there is presently one postdoctoral fellow involved
full-time with this project. Polyclonal antisera are already available for iso-
lating the next two genes of interest; the position to be filled could involve
either of these sub-projects. The research program is presently funded by two
recent five-year grants from NIH and from the American Heart Association; a
third grant is pending review by NSF. This recruitment effort is being coordi-
nated with the development of an institutional Program in Molecular Genetics
within the medical center and offers an excellent opportunity for career devel-
opment. The starting date for this position is flexible, and the salary offered
will be commensurate with qualifications. Please send curriculum vitae, list of
publications, and names of three references to:
