COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES/UNIVERSITY OF GLASGOW/ UNIVERSITA DI PALERMO GENETIC INTERACTIONS BETWEEN NUCLEAR AND MITOCHONDRIAL DNA IN SEA URCHIN DEVELOPMENT Two positions are available, on a collaborative research project funded by the European Community, to study aspects of mitochondrial biogenesis in sea urchin eggs and embryos. We are seeking to recruit :- (1) A biological sciences graduate, preferably with recent laboratory experience of techniques in protein chemistry and/or immunochemistry, who will join the research group in the Dept. of Cell Biology in Palermo University. Although candidates of British nationality will be preferred, nationals of any EC member state other than Italy may apply. (2)A postdoctoral or advance postgraduate scientist, preferably with a background in molecular genetics, who will join the research group at the Dept. of Genetics, University of Glasgow. Preference here is for a candidate of italian nationality, although nationals of any EC member state other than Britain will be considered. Both appointees will participate in collaborative exchange visits to the other laboratory. Each position is available initially for a period of one year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year or longer. Salaries will be on an appropriate academic-related scale in the host country, with generaous additional allowances for exchange visits.
