MOLECULAR GENETICIST:	

THE JOB:
The applicant will join a small team studying the control of gene expression in
Drosophila melanogaster with the aim of developing new strategies for animal
genetic engineering. The project will focus on regulatory elements central to
the pattern of gene expression initiated by the steroid hormone ecdysone.  Work
will involve recombinant DNA technology and animal cell/embryo transformation. 

THE PERSON:
Applicants should possess a PhD or equivalent qualification in biochemistry or
molecular biology. 

CONDITIONS:
Appointment will be for a term of three years, with Australian Government
superannuation available.

ESSENTIAL

1.	PhD in Biochemistry or molecular biology.

2.	Experience with recombinant DNA technology

3.	Good academic record.

4.	Ability to function as a team member.

5.	Good technical skills.



DESIRABLE

1.	Experience with Drosophila melanogaster biology and molecular biology.

2.	A desire to pursue a career in scientific research.

3.	Experience with transformation of Drosophila and/or mammalian embryos.

4.	Experience with tissue culture and transformation of tissue culture
        cells.
