Preference will be for someone with an active research interest in
eukaryotic molecular biology or structural aspects of nucleic acids.
Duties will consist of teaching and research. The Department of
Biochemistry teaches students in the Faculties of Science, Medicine,
Dentistry and Veterinary Science. Current research in molecular
biology concentrates on (i) bacterial chromosome replication and cell
division and (ii) human inherited diseases. In addition, the research
interests of several members of staff impinge heavily on molecular
biology e.g. site-directed mutagenesis of enzymes and DNA-protein
interactions. There is a strong departmental commitment to increasing
further research activity in molecular biology and in macromolecular
structure. Excellent facilities for research are available.

 With the approval of the University, staff with the rank of Lecturer
and above may undertake limited consulting work.

Appointments to lectureships have the potential to lead to tenure and
are usually probationary for three years.

Salary: Lecturer: A$31,259 - A$40,622 per annum
