POSITION TITLE: Post Doctoral Fellow
APPLICATION DEADLINE: November 1, 1989, or until a qualified individual
applies thereafter.
QUALIFICATIONS: PhD in microbiology, molecular biology,
biochemistry, or related field and
possess significant research experience
in one or more of the following areas:
1) Virology, 2) Molecular biology, and
3) Protein biochemistry.
RESPOSIBILITIES: To carry out research in the area of
pestivirus replication and interaction
with the host cell, including the
functional mapping of the genome of Bovine
Viral Diarrhea virus. Specifically, 1) to
elucidate the molecular basis of the
differential processing of the 118k
polypeptide in cytopathic and
noncytopathic viruses by molecular cloning
and nucleotide sequencing, 2) to test
alternative hypotheses regarding the
mechanism involved in this differential
processing using eucaryotic expression
systems, 3) study the function(s) of the
118k polypeptide.
SALARY: According with qualifications and
experience.
